Pure Love

For those of you who read my blog on a regular basis, ya'll know that I have been complaining nonstop about our current computer situation. The fact that our computer is very very sick and I have no idea why. It made me want to sit down and cry about two weeks ago when I did my friend's tax return and they were coming over to look it over, so I went to print the return out and lo and behold there was no such thing as a tax return on the computer anywhere. It ate their return and our return that I had half finished. It also ate my backup spreadsheets I had created for the returns. I was so so so mad.

Anyway, I bit the bullet and ordered a new Dell laptop...a pink one for anyone who knows me, that is sooo me. And it was delivered about an hour ago and I am in love. Pure love with this thing. Wow, this is nice. I definitely have a new-computer high going on right now.

One of the reasons why I really did need a laptop (one that was made in the last 10 years anyway) was because I have started a new business. It is a business that never in a million years thought I would do, but here I am doing it. I am now an Arbonne Independent Consultant. For those of you who do not know about Arbonne, it is basically the best skin care out there. I am a total fan of the product and have seen with my own eyes the results that it can do with friends. My friend Heather hosted a party around Christmas time and I went to it saying that I was not going to buy anything. I was just going for the free facial and foot soak. But walked out of there hooked on the stuff. Then I hosted a party about 6 weeks ago and became a consultant just for the discounted products. I did not have any intention of actually selling the stuff, but the more I shared it with my friends, I realized that I could make some money doing this. So here I am a saleswoman. Go figure. Me who hates to speak in front of people.

My webpage for Arbonne is www.newdawn.myarbonne.com if you want to check it out. I have every intention of going far with this and have already made quite a few sales in the last two weeks. If I go far enough, I will soon be driving a new white Mercedes! Oh and carrying my new pink laptop of course! :)

You Wanna Know What Embarrassment Is?

So Jack loves to go to church. He has a ton of friends at church. He loves our Pastor. He just loves the whole experience and I love that he loves it. However, he might be just a bit too enthusiastic about it at times.

Every week, our pastor has a children's story where all the children go down and sit on the floor to listen to his sermon to them. Afterwards, they all go to children's church to let us adults enjoy the sermon in peace, child-free. For a few months now, Jack has been the comical relief during this story time. Last week, the Pastor was talking about we are all invited to God's party and Jack got up and yelled out that he likes to dance and proceeded to show everybody his moves he has.

So basically every week when it is time for the children's story, just about the whole entire church will look over at me as if to say "what is Jack going to do this week". Well this week, he trumped all past antics. First of all, he always yells out "whoohooo" when it is time to go down and listen, which always cracks everybody up. This week, he got down there, sat down and Pastor Stephen started to talk. About 30 seconds into the story, JIM'S son (cause mine wouldn't do this) yelled out for everybody to hear "I Farted!". I was mortified! I looked at Jim with an astonished look on my face. I was thinking to myself "oh he did not just say that". But sure enough he did. And everyone in the church was looking at me trying their best not to laugh too loud. Me? I just wanted to slink under the pew.

My only question is what is he going to come up with next week?

Easter 2008

"Where have you been?" That has been the question I have received from family and friends who read this blog. Uhhhh. Sorry. Just a bit busy. I am still working about 3 or 4 mornings a week. I have also been doing tax returns for friends and myself. And I have just started a new business, which I am so excited about, but I will tell you all about it in a forthcoming post.

This post, is all about Easter and how we celebrated the holiday. Just a side note, Jim had to work all weekend long, so he didn't partake of many of the activities.

On Saturday, we did the traditional decorate Easter eggs as you can see below. It was messy, but as always, fun.

Jack and the total concentration of dipping eggs. Also notice, the boy is whistling while doing this. Just in the last couple of weeks, he learned how to whistle (something I can't do to save my life) and now walks around whistling ALL THE TIME!

Laura showing off the food coloring stain on her fingers. She is visiting us while on her spring break from school. She has to go back to California on Friday. Sad.

The finished product, with the kiddos.

On Sunday at church, the kids sang a couple of songs which had over the top cuteness factor. Jack is the one poking in his pocket. I do have a couple of videos of these songs and will upload in the next couple of days for you to enjoy.

After church, we had a church Easter egg hunt for all the kids at church. I believe there were close to 1000 eggs out there on the lawn. I know I filled close to 200 myself! Here is Laura in her Easter finery picking up her share of eggs.

Jack and Allison had this whole pile of eggs to themselves.

Jack and Laura showing off their loot.
After church, we went to our friend's Tim and Heather for Easter dinner. It was a fun get together with "the group". We have a core group of 6 couples from church and their kids that we get together with at least once a week.
And now, I have to rush off and get ready because we are going up to Jim's mother's house for a couple of days. Always something to do! Busy. Busy. Busy.

In Tax Craziness

For a "retired" accountant, I sure do seem to be doing a lot of taxes this year. Of course there is my own, which is just about done. Then there are friends that I said I would do this year. And then there are the phone calls from friends with questions about their taxes that they are attempting to do on their own. Then there is the corporate tax return I just finished today for the company that I now work for on a part-time basis. And let me tell you, that one was horrendous because nothing was updated for 2007 and the person who did the taxes last year didn't know what was what.

Let's just say that my mind is just about mush right now. Not bad for a "retiree" huh?

Can't Catch A Breath

Seriously, I have been so busy lately, it feels like I just can't catch a breath. How is it that Jack's birthday was three days ago, and I still have not written his Happy Birthday letter to him that I do every year.

Today was busy with going to the Playhouse Disney show, which was really cute. I ended up going with two other friends and their kids and I could tell the kids had a blast. But oh my goodness, the amount of money they wanted for some of the concessions was outrageous. They were selling cotton candy with a Handy Manny hat for $18. Give me a break. Or the $12 picture for your kid to stand next to a cutout of Rocket from the Little Einsteins. Yeah, um no thanks. But the show was cute. We got to see the whole Little Einsteins, including Rocket, Winnie the Pooh and friends, Handy Manny, and of course the gang from Mickey Mouse clubhouse.

After the show, we came home and turned around and went to a party for another friend's birthday, where we stayed until 10:00 tonight, which is really 11:00 with the time change and all.

And even tomorrow being Sunday, I still will not get to rest or even clean my filthy house because we have church and then a leadership team church meeting tomorrow afternoon. And even Monday night, I have another church meeting regarding the children's ministry.

Seriously ya'll I just want to go somewhere and sleep for a day all by myself.

Short Catch Up

A lot has been happening around here in the last couple of weeks. We hosted a family reunion for my side of the family and had 10 people staying at the house last weekend. We had a great time and was great to finally get everybody together in one spot. We had people come in from Michigan, Idaho, Florida and Tennessee. Jack's newest hero is his cousin Chad, who is on his way to becoming a great Nascar driver. Chad bought Jack a real fishing pole, so now all Jack talks about is Chad this and Chad that.

Jack had his fourth birthday on Wednesday. I still need to sit down and write my annual birthday letter to him. I am late on doing that this year, but with all the craziness happening, I have not been able to focus my thoughts on the fact that he is indeed now a four year old. Egads.

My hubby bought himself a new motorcycle sometime in the last two weeks during all the craziness. He has been wanting one soooooo bad for a few years now, but the want became all the more stronger when we moved here and all his cop buddies have one and he didn't. I was very much opposed to the idea of spending the money, but he deserves it and he really is like a kid at Christmas with the thing. And I have to say that he is down right sexy riding the thing with his leather jacket. Hehehe.

We are going to the Playhouse Disney show tomorrow with our neighbors. I actually bought the tickets like 6 months ago. I bought three tickets so that Jim, Jack and I could go, however Jim is working this weekend and I highly doubt that he will get up out of bed to go see Playhouse Disney. So if anybody in the Mississippi gulf coast area wants a ticket, I got one for ya.

I think that is the short version of everything that has been happening. I will post pictures of the family reunion, Jack's birthday party at school, and other such stuff in the near future, along with his birthday letter. I will try to squeeze it in sometime between Playhouse Disney and the continuing birthday celebration.

Phew! No wonder I am so tired!

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Today is your fourth birthday. I am so completely proud of you. I hope you have a great day.

(I usually have this birthday post ready way before his actual birthday, but we have been so busy around here with family reunion this past weekend that I have not had a chance to sit down and write my annual Happy Birthday Baby boy post. It will be forthcoming soon.)
